Canadian Secondary Schools

Advantages

As we all know, Canada is the safest and most suitable country to live and study in terms of politics, economy and natural environment. Canada also boasts world-class education with both American and British characteristics, and rich educational resources. The Canadian secondary school system includes public schools, private schools, boarding schools and religious schools, all open to international students. Regardless of whether they go to public or private school, students can choose different curriculum systems such as the Canadian high school curriculum, AP courses, or IB courses. Choosing to attend high school in Canada has the following advantages:

1. Applying to a world-class university as a Canadian high school student has a high rate of success. Following graduation, Canadian high school students are more capable of adapting to the rigorous intensity of universities in western countries.

   • Canada does not have a college entrance examination system, and students can use their overall high school grades to apply to many prestigious universities around the world.

   • For international students who have studied in Canada for a minimum of four years, English language tests can be waived when applying to universities, and there is no need to spend time preparing for IELTS or TOEFL exams.

   • The secondary school education system in Canada provides a better transition to North American universities. Canadian secondary schools are credit-based. Students begin to take college preparatory courses starting in the third year of high school.

   • Compared with international students who enter university directly from their home country, students who have finished high school in Canada have stronger language skills, are better able to adapt to foreign university life, and can better integrate into the local student community.

2. Secondary school application threshold is relatively low, and parents can choose to accompany their children.

    • Canadian public and private high schools have slightly different application requirements and procedures. Applying to public high schools generally does not require a special language test, and there is no age limit for admission. SSAT scores are generally required to apply for private secondary schools , although some schools only require students to take the school's own test.

    • Parents can also apply for visitor visas to accompany and take care of their children, which is a benefit not available in the United States or United Kingdom.

3. Tuitions of Canadian secondary schools are much lower than that of European countries and the United States:

    • The tuition fee for public schools is about 15,000 Canadian dollars per year , or RMB 75,000, and the tuition for private schools is 25,000 to 30,000 Canadian dollars, or RMB 125,000 to 150,000.  The tuition fees for studying in Canada in secondary schools are the most economical among developed countries, with similar tuition fees to private bilingual schools in developed cities in China, Students from China can receive a truly world-class international education for the same fee with all the added benefits of actually studying abroad.

4. Canada boasts rich multiculturalism, thanks to its favorable immigration policy.

    • Students who graduate from Canadian universities could easily apply for Permanent Residence. Canada, as one of the most multicultural countries in the world, accommodates a large number of immigrants from more than 100 countries around the world. It is very easy for people of different ethnicities and speaking different languages to coexist. Moreover, Canada makes the protection of women and children a high priority. As a parent, I feel much more at ease sending my child to such an environment for education. After completing higher education, international students can obtain a work visa with a validity of three years and can then apply for permanent resident status. Immigration policies for international students are more lenient than in the United States and the United Kingdom.

5. Safe and beautiful learning and living environment:

    • Canada is world-renowned for social security, justice and peace. Unlike its southern neighbor, Canada has strict gun control laws.

    • Canada's food safety ranks first in the world, and cities are generally free of air pollution.

     • The Canadian social environment is safe, the natural environment is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the society is relatively conservative, making it more suitable for young students.

     • According to United Nations assessments, Canada has been rated as the best country with the highest quality of life for many years in a row. The survey is conducted annually and uses more than 200 indicators to assess the quality of life in 174 countries. The main reasons for Canada's top spot are: a sound education system, high quality of life and low crime rate.
